Sports Plane from Siku

HO Scale Vehicles

If your modern era model railroad layout features an airport, this little diecast stunt airplane from Siku might just do the trick.

Siku says it’s scaled to 1/87, making it perfect for HO scale model railroads. You’d have to file off that tail wheel, of course, as that appears to be somewhat out of scale. Although it makes the plane easy to roll around on a table, it lifts the tail unrealistically high. A simple skid would be more accurate.

It’s made of diecast metal, so don’t expect it to glide better than, say, a Hot Wheels blimp. And, at €6,29, the price is a hefty $8.91 USD.

Still, the pilot figure adds a nice degree of both realism and scale to this tiny airplane. The Siku Sports Airplane might find a nice little corner in a model railroad airport. Now, if you could just get that propeller to turn on its own…

You can learn more about the Siku Sports Airplane, Model 1865, from our own Resources Page or by visiting the Siku site.
